Big Strike Gold-Silver Project

Rainbow Resources' 12,700-hectare Big Strike Project currently consists of eight individual properties (International, Tin City, President, Ottawa, Gold Viking, Rhea, Whitewater and Referendum) plus additional claims that have all been under-explored and are situated within, or in very close proximity to, the prolific Kootenay Arc. This significant geological feature is a 400-km long curving belt of highly deformed sedimentary, volcanic and metamorphic rocks extending southeast from Revelstoke, south along Kootenay Lake and southeast across the U.S. boundary. The Kootenay Arc is of economic importance in British Columbia as mines within it have produced a large proportion of the silver, lead and zinc of the province as well as substantial quantities of gold and copper.

An initial NI-43-101 compliant technical report on the Big Strike Project from Moose Mountain Technical Services, the company's resource consultants, was completed March 27, 2012, and is available at www.sedar.com.

RBW Big Strike Project Location Map

International » click here for more info

  • 4,000 Ha property with easy access near Duncan Lake, 140 km north of Nelson, consisting of mineral claims and crown grants
  • Potential epigenetic and polymetallic deposit (silver, lead, zinc and possibly gold)
  • Rock sample assay results as high as 1,148 g/t Ag and 68% Pb
  • Northwest trending vein system has been historically surveyed over a true strike length of more than 1.2 kilometres and has been tested with numerous adits
  • A Fugro heli-borne electromagnetic survey completed by Rainbow has greatly expanded the zone of potential mineralization at the International with several high-priority new exploration targets identified
  • A first-ever drill program (15 shallow holes at the Cabin Showing) was completed in September to test the vein structure over an 80-metre-long area

  • Silver-lead prospect immediately north of International Property
  • Will be explored as possible extension of potential deposit at International
  • Former Newmont property but Newmont focused on tungsten, not silver

  • Located on west side of Duncan Lake near International Property
  • Surrounded by Cominco and Mineral Mountain Resources
  • Style of mineralization similar to International
  • Considerable faulting may have provided a conduit for mineralizing solutions

  • Ottawa claims and an area up to 350 metres east of these claims produced 1.8 million ounces of silver at an average grade of 2,113 g/t (61.6 oz/ton) in the 1900's (some gold, zinc and copper were also mined)
  • Historical work may have only "scratched the surface" - excellent potential for discovery of a larger deposit system
  • No previous drilling

  • Located immediately adjacent to Ottawa Property and the Village of Slocan
  • Drilling has intersected two promising areas of potential gold mineralization 1,000 metres apart (assays pending as of mid-November)
  • A strong coincident geochemical and geophysical anomaly stretches beyond the boundaries (north to south and east to west) of the areas drilled
  • Numerous historical adits but no previous drilling

  • Land package recently expanded to nearly 1,500 Ha
  • Located immediately south of Nelson near significant past producers
  • Considered highly prospective for gold, silver, lead, zinc and copper mineralization
  • Potential skarn-type deposit similar to the past producing Second Relief Mine, 5 km south of Rhea (on strike) and in the same Archibald Formation

Referendum » click here for more info

  • Quartz-tourmaline stockwork system with open-pit potential on eastern side of 1,500 Ha property
  • Potential for copper-gold-porphyry deposit on western side

Whitewater » click here for more info

  • Contiguous to claims recently acquired by Rainbow that enlarged the Rhea Property
  • Gold production from short adits in the early 1900's
